Latest Film — Sonder

Sonder (noun) describes a state of consciousness in which someone suddenly becomes aware that everyone else around them has their own thoughts, goals, opinions, problems, etc. It is, more or less, an empathic state of being. Interestingly, I have found that most people have an easier time describing empathy than they do practicing it in their daily lives- even in close relationships.

Sonder presents the audience with a young couple, Alex and Anthony, who were happy once, but have since devolved into a state of quiet resentment. Neither of them feel seen in their relationship, but they have not given up yet.

Sonder is a film about hope. It is about sticking together through the trials and tribulations of love. In a relationship, empathy can carry a couple far; Alex and Anthony just need to remember what it feels like... to be seen as a whole person again. After all, "To be loved is to be seen."

The In-Between: A young boy resists manifestations of his own guilt in the wake of a traumatic event. This film is meant to reflect on friendship and loyalty in the face of danger, specifically in the context of a coming of age story.
Sonder: An estranged young couple on the verge of divorce fight to be seen as individuals in their relationship by revisiting shared memories. It is a film about hope, about sticking together through the trials and tribulations of love.
