Aidan Kolokithas: Cinematic Specialist
Your Every-Man
With a Master of Fine Arts degree and over six years of film experience, I am well-versed in both film studies and production. My expertise include screenwriting, directing, cinematography, sound mixing, video editing, and sound design.
Latest Film — Sonder
Sonder is my most recent film that I wrote, directed, and co-produced. I was also the chief editor and sole sound designer.
The word “sonder” (noun) describes a state of consciousness in which someone suddenly becomes aware that everyone else around them has their own thoughts, goals, opinions, problems, etc. It is, more or less, an empathic state of being. Interestingly, I have found that most people have an easier time describing empathy than they do practicing it in their daily lives- even in close relationships.
Sonder presents the audience with a young couple, Alex and Anthony, who were happy once, but have since devolved into a state of quiet resentment. Neither of them feel seen in their relationship, but they have not given up yet.
Sonder is a film about hope. It is about sticking together through the trials and tribulations of love. In a relationship, empathy can carry a couple far; Alex and Anthony just need to remember what it feels like... to be seen as a whole person again. After all, "To be loved is to be seen."
Sonder is currently in the middle of its festival run, but please feel free to watch the trailer!
Looking to grow your brand? Content marketing is another service that I can provide.
Content Marketing — A Smile of A Thousand Words
If you are looking for someone who can help bring your brand to life through visual storytelling, look no further! Though I consider myself to be a filmmaker, I do not limit myself to film production.
In addition to my background in film, I have experience doing content marketing for several clients, with the most notable example being a video advertisement that I made for Symphony Dental Care, a local business in Rogers, Arkansas.
In order to make A Smile of A Thousand Words— the name for our video ad— I met with the client to determine what they wanted. Their business is dedicated to making everyone’s smile brighter, and that is what we chose to emphasize.
After a short period of planning, I hired some actors, put together a small crew of fellow filmmakers and shot the video. I then took the footage and edited it into multiple different cuts of different lengths and formats (both vertical and horizonal) to allow my client to post the ad across multiple social media apps and websites.
If you are interested in sharing your brand’s story with the world, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yes, I do weddings!
A final service that I can provide is shooting, editing, and color grading your wedding video! Please refer to the provided wedding video as a sample of my work.*
My personal camera is a 6K Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, and I use a small rig with a RODE shotgun mic mounted to the top. My gear ensures high quality video and audio, and my editing skills can make your wedding footage even more beautiful and transform it into a story that you can keep forever.
While I can be hired to shoot weddings, I am also happy to simply edit any footage that you have. For example, if you have some older footage of your wedding from years ago, you can tell me what you want to do with it and I can improve it to the best of my ability.
*Note: The sample video features my post-production work, but was actually shot by my friends at AP Productions.
